Ricky Miller has been reporting EPIC waves on the east coast for the past week and he sent us some sweet photos for proof. The photos are of our boy Ricky Miller and east coast legend Goat Collins. Here's a few pics Mokitom.com took this past weekend at Salt Creek beach and Wedge. This first two are Chris Monroe with the cutback cutty reverse at Salt Creek. John "Beans" Porzuczek scooping into a heavy slab pit at The Wedge. Ricky just e-mailed us some photos from his recent adventures down to Puerto Excondido Mexico and he reports that the waves were fun and pumping. From the photos it looks like it was warm and the barrels were nice and blue.

With the recent fun little swells hitting Southern California, the Morey guys had some time to test out the some of the new Morey boards and John Idano was there to capture some of the action before breaking his arm trying to help a scared surfer exit the water on the rocks. John is healing quickly and is expected to be better just in time to cover the action at the Morey Pro/Am contest coming up at the Outerbanks in North Carolina on November 15th and 16th. For more info on the event log onto www.obxproam.com Ricky Miller is now back in action after his visit to the hospital a few weeks back and reports that the waves were firing on the outer banks today (10-15-08) and fun was to be had by all. Judging from these photos he sent in, you definitely can tell it was sick for the east coast.
Here is some footage of John "BEANS" Porzuczek ripping it up in the Cook Islands taken by Rob Isambert of Uprising Films. These are just the scraps that didn't make the cut to the real video, but at any rate, it is some pretty sweet footage of Beans. Enjoy.
It's that time of year again for the annual Morey Outerbanks Pro am contest going down in North Carolina on November 15th and 16th. Last year this contest had really sick waves and competetion was tough, so whether your a competive rider or spectator, make sure to come down and check it out! Morey will be sending the video crew again to cover the event and the pro prize purse is expected to be the biggest yet! Also make sure to check the video below of last years event.
Last week John "Beans" Porzuczek reported some good sessions at the Wedge and judging from Rob Isambert's frame grabs, it looks like Beans was surfing well. To see all the actual footage, you're gonna have to wait until Ring of Fire 2 comes out on DVD....
We just got a report from our Kauai team rider Pyper Lluellen that he is finally healing from a torn ACL that has had him out of the water for around 6 months. Pyper said he has been riding daily and soon we can expect some photos of him back in action.
Morey grom John "Beans" Porzuczek checked in and said the recent string of south swells to hit Southern California has made some fun waves. John forwarded a nice picture of him getting slotted at Wedge on the past south swell. Greyson "Grommie" Waller also stopped by the Morey offices this week and picked up some new boards. Grommie soon jets off to Japan
to sample some fun waves and soak up some local culture and judging from grommie's hair, I am sure he will have some fans over there!
Churchill Swimfins is proud to announce the addition of Jeff Hubbard to the team! On Thursday August 21st 2008, Hubbard inked the deal and then turned around and won the USBA HB Pro contest that went down this weekend using his new Churchill fins for the first time in competition. In early 2009 Churchill plans to release the Hubb Makapuu signature fin which will fuse the traditional Churchill fin shape with all of Hubb’s custom designs to make the most high performance bodyboarding fin in the world.
In 1936 Owen Churchill adapted structural concepts from dolphins to develop the world’s first pair of swimfins. The unique design of the Churchill Makapuu fins is universally recognized by bodyboarders and bodysurfers as the optimum design for power, style and acceleration. Churchill swimfins are sold worldwide and are endorsed by some of the world’s best bodyboarders, so it was only a natural fit to have aerial specialist and 2006 World Champion Jeff Hubbard join the team. Jeff’s radical high performance riding is admired by most all bodyboarders and to pair that up with an iconic fin like the Makapuu is a match that was long anticipated!
